Not such a great game last night, but the Yankees didn't completely suck. That last-inning-almost-comeback seemed to good to be true, and apparently it was. But not to worry, they're playing Baltimore tonight and hopefully can pull together a win.

1. News on Mr. Chamberlain- good to see he's doing better.

2. Here's a nice little preview of tonight. I'm so excited!

3. In case you've been living in a hole, Pope Benedict XVI is celebrating mass at the Catheral on Saturday.

4. I won't be posting tomorrow because I'm going to visit some friends for the day, but I'll be back sometime Sunday. Have a great start to the weekend!

So Pumped.

Theeee Yankees win! Hopefully that will repeat itself (without the not-so-great Yankees pitching). I can't wait! But I have a bit of a problem because The Office is on tonight at 9 (that is my new favorite show after watching countless episodes of it last weekend, long story that I'll put up later if I remember to), so anyways I don't really want to miss any of the game, but I don't want to miss The Office either! Maybe I'll try to switch off without missing too much?

1. The Yankees have a buttload of money.

2. Peter Abraham has the lineups.

3. Here is the story on the first pitch last night. I missed it, but I like that idea. Its amazing what technology can do.

4. WHO'S PUMPED FOR TONIGHT?

Bits and Pieces

So who's wicked pumped for the game tonight? A few quickies:

1. LaTroy Hawkins is changing his number. Yeah, I know its Paul O'Neill's number and all, but that wasn't his reason for wearing it.

2. Yankees-Red Sox tonight. So pumped.

3. Joba's dad is still in the hospital, but he's doing a little better.

4. Jackie Robinson day was yesterday. Jeter, Cano, Girardi, and Mariano wore 42. Personally, I don't see any reason not to wear it. Here's a nice interview with Derek on the Robinson's.

5. Still pumped.

I'm Back!

Hey everyone! I just got back from a trip to Canada with some friends this weekend; it was a blast! Yankees almost lost it yesterday but Cano stepped in with a homer that eventually won the game. I don't have much time right now, but I'll be back tomorrow (hopefully) with some links and updates.

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

First off, the Yankees didn't do well today as you may have seen. But, unfortunately, I don't have time to post much of anything because I'm going away tomorrow until Sunday night. I'll try to post Monday, but I will probably have a ton of work to do. Hopefully I can, but if not, see you on Tuesday!

Happy Monday!

1. If you haven't already seen them, YES puts interview videos and game highlights on their website here.

2. I really think that the whole "Joba's celebrations are offensive" thing is ridiculous. Let him be himself and have some fun.

3. Yankees-Rays tonight at 7 EST. Hammel vs. Mussina on YES and ESPN2. Hammel went 0-6 in 2006, but improved to 3-5 last season with a 6.14 ERA. Mussina was 11-10 last season with a 5.15 ERA. Hopefully the offense will wake up tonight.

4. If you want me to post about certain players, events, teams, or anything you can think of that is baseball-related let me know in the comments section and I will more than happy to look into it!

Vote!

Don't forget to vote in the poll to the left! It will be up for the rest of the week.

Oh Yeaahh

1. Yankees win! 2-0 against the Rays, not too impressive, but a win none the less.
2. Wang owns. Wang had a great start today with a little more than six shutout innings. Ace anyone?
3. Back and Back. Melky and Joe Girardi were back today after a suspension and an infection, respectively.

Fix this?

Yes, the Yankees have lost to the Rays twice in a row. No, you should not be concerned. Why? Well first off, its early. But also, there has been no Melky. I'm not just saying that because he's one of my favorites, but really, look at the games he played in and the ones he hasn't. He didn't start early last season. The Yankees sucked early last season. Melky hasn't played the last two games due to his suspension. The Yankees haven't completely sucked, but they haven't won either. So, you ask, what is so special about him? What if they just aren't playing well? Are you sure this is related to Melky at all? Well, Melky's got energy. Along with Cano, they get everyone pumped. They remind the veterans that, yeah baseball is their job, but it started out as a game. You have to play to win, but you have to enjoy it at the same time. Also, Melky has a gun of an arm unlike his centerfieldmate Damon, which certainly will save a run or two. And Damon's leftfieldmate Hideki can't run as well and is coming off knee surgery, so Damon is a better fit in left with Matsui DHing. But with Matsui and Damon in the field, it screws up the DH spot.

The Yankees need the Melkman. They need his arm along with his energy. As Joe Girardi says, "Melky is an exciting player."

Favorites

OK, just so that you all know my opinions on the players, here are a few:

1. Derek Jeter... is my favorite Yankee, so expect to hear mostly good things about him.
2. Melky Cabrera... is a close second. I love his energy and all of the celebrations he does.
3. Chien-Ming Wang... is really cool, I think he will do really well this year.
4. Andy Pettitte... is truly a great guy and I have a load of respect for him.
5. Robinson Cano... is so laid-back and chill, and he's got a ton of talent and brings a lot to the table.
6. Jorge Posada... the only thing that comes to mind is "Hip-Hip... Jorge!" I'm so glad he's back.
7. Alex Rodriguez... is a great mentor and stuff, but I'm not so sure about him, I do not hate him or anything, but he's not my favorite.
8. Hiteki Matsui... is one of my favorites, but I don't know how reliable he is.
9. Johnny Damon... is a nice lead-off man, and I'm liking him in left.
10. Jason Giambi... is always a surprise. I never know what he's going to do in the field or at the plate.
11. Phil Hughes... is going to be amazing really soon.
12. Ian Kennedy... is going to rock this year.
13. Joba Chamberlain... is awesome.
14. Jose Molina... is a great backup and I like him a lot.
15. Shelley Duncan... is hysterical.
16. Mariano Rivera... is amazing to watch, I always feel like I'm witnessing history, good or bad.
17. Mike Mussina... is unstable, but I think he will do better than expected this season, or at least I hope.
18. Wilson Betemit... is a nice guy off the bench, but I would want someone better out there if someone got hurt.
19. Bobby Abreu... is a solid outfielder and I like him wearing out those pitchers everyday.
20. Morgan Ensburg... seems good off the bench, but I haven't seen enough of him.
21. Kyle Farnsworth... is not reliable.
22. LaTroy Hawkins... seems good, haven't really seen all he's got.
23. Brian Bruney... is alright, I think he'll do pretty good this year.
24. Billy Traber... I haven't seen enough of him to really decide, but I think he'll do well.
25. Ross Ohlendorf... see Billy Traber.

Well, there ya go. Those are just a few of my opinions on each player, but as you keep reading this blog (hopefully you will!) you will definitely be able to tell who my favorites are... *cough* Jeter, Melky, Jorge, Cano *cough*

Welcome!

Hey everyone! Welcome to my new blog, Got Melk? This will be a Yankees blog for the most part, but I might post about some other stuff on my mind if I feel like it. Anyway, if you have any opinions whatsoever please comment! Feel free to leave any feedback as well. Thank you for visiting and I will try to post an actual Yankees post later on, it will probably be something about which players I like and such just for some background.
